Training weekends

  • The HCACR Training Committee is running a series of weekend workshops in October 2025. The HCACR Training Committee is running another series of weekend workshops in October 2025. Three weekend workshops will be running in October:
  • The workshop times will be 10-12.30pm and 2-4.30pm on the Saturday. Also, 2-5pm on the Sunday. 
  • The date that you apply will be used as one of the ways that we allocate places, so get your application submitted as early as you can. Priority for places will be given to HCACR members. The deadline for submitting applications is 31 JULY.  
  • Please get guidance about which is the most appropriate workshop for your level by discussing your application and the workshop information with your tower captain or trainer.
  • The cost for the workshops will be £20 which will be due when your place is confirmed. 

Maintenance workshop

The Tower Maintenance workshop will be on the 18th of October at Hatfield tower between 2 and 5pm.

ART Module 2 workshop

The link to apply for the ART Module 2 workshop, on the 29th of November at Thorley, is: events.bellringing.org/en/events/module-2f/teaching-course-module-2f-thorley-herts

Information about the workshop:

  • This course shows new and experienced teachers how to support their students and develop the necessary foundation skills for good ringing and then move forward to ringing changes. 
  •  The practical exercises approach learning in small structured steps and are delivered in a way that is entertaining for the new ringer whilst the theory sessions cover foundation skills, teaching theory, running practices, team building and how to motivate and retain your ringers.
  • £30 per attendee
  • You must be a bell-ringing teacher (or would-be teacher) aged 14 or over.
  • You must have sufficiently good bell control to be able to inspire confidence in others.
  • You need to be able to comfortably raise and lower a bell.
  • You can ring at least Plain Hunt.
  • We expect that you should easily be able to pass the Learning the Ropes Level 2 handling assessment. For more information, see bellringing.org/about-teaching/bell-handling/#GoodHandlingStyle
