Inaugural 10 bell contest

Congratulations to the St Albans District for their win at the 1st ever HCACR 10 bell competition! It was fantastic to have 5 of the 6 districts represented in the competition. We were very grateful to John & Billy Fisher for judging. Our thanks also go to the Cranfield family for providing a fantastic trophy. This was presented to the captain of the winning team by the then President, Peter Cranfield.

Judging Feedback and Results

Team 1: Nervy start but settled, performance improved after practice, peal speed 3h16.

Team 2: Began purposefully, improved through performance, consistent speed with Team 1.

Team 3: Measured piece of ringing. Slowest peal speed (3h30) possibly a bit too slow. Improved after a post-practice pep talk, but perhaps unintentionally slow.

Team 4: Noticeable improvement from the practice to the test piece. Some periods of nice, clear ringing, also some rhythmic inconsistencies, one bell had challenges, peal speed 3h23.

Team 5: Struggled with rhythm and agreement on the speed, improved towards the end, peal speed 3h27.

Final results:

1st place: Team 1 (St. Albans district) – 86%

2nd place: Team 3 (Bishop’s Stortford district) – 84%

3rd place: Team 2 (Eastern district) – 77%

4th place: Team 4 (Western district) – 72%

5th place: Team 5 (Northern district) – 65%
